Lincoln Trails Dressage, inc. was formed in 1976 and was first known as the Lincoln Trails Dressage Association. The organization was formed to promote and support the equestrain sport of dressage in the "Lincoln Trails" area. In 1980 we became Lincoln Trails Dressage and Combined Training Association, to reflect the wishes of the membership to include support and promotion of the sport of Combined Training in the organization objectives. More recently the CT part was dropped as simply too long a name. The objective to support CT, however, has not changed. Elementary dressage is basic training which teaches a horse to be obedient, willing, supple and responsive - prerequisites for any work the horse may be asked to do. Not every horse schooled in dressage will become a Grand Prix Olympic caliber horse, but every horse can benefit from dressage. The objective of dressage is the hamonious develoment of horse and rider, making them calm, confident, strong, supple and in harmony with each other. Harmony brought about by two-way communication. Dressage requires discipline of mind and body for both partners. LTD is a small group of people interested in furthering their riding skills at whatever level their interest and time allows. Members include people new to dressage, people who enjoy learning and riding without competing, and serious competitors at all levels. Members' horses include all breeds. Members contribute time and energy to club projects, shows and clinics. Lincoln Trails activities include Fund Raisers - including a Geranium Sale and Rummage Sale - two Schooling Shows per year - occasionally more - plus promote Club Members' Shows such as the one put on by Ramey Riding Stables each Fall. We also help to promote Clinicians brought in by members and sponsor our own Clinics from time to time. See Events Listings for Specific Dates and announcements of other Club activites. To participate in the Discussion area you must Register. Click on the word register and follow the directions.
